By soft tissue, this might mean a torn meniscus / cartilage, which typically requires arthroscopic surgery after further testing confirms this to be the case. Strenuous activity might worsen the tearing, which does not grow back. Or, this may refer to torn ligaments, which may also require surgery.

Additional questions need to be asked for an exact diagnosis. A specialist should be examining.

I had a lot of knee injuries and problems in my days so I know how scared and worried you must be. I never tore the soft tissues in my knees but it felt like it did. Back to the point, you should ask your doctor when you should try to walk again since he knows more then I do and you have a doctor. Now for my guess that you should take no merit in since Im not a doctor and not good with medical guesses. I would say that you shouldn't let irrational fears keep you from becoming recovered, you should adhere to rational ones though. If your knees feels like they recovered a lot since you were hurt, if your knees can support your weight without a great deal of pain, if your knees don't start ripping lol while you walk then I think you will be ok. Just try it until a real reason comes up like severe pain and shooting nervey pain pervents you. If that happens I would say go in. But more importantly you should follow up with your doctor and ask him these questions. Adios

You really need a physio. Since you only live in a small town, you may want to try ringing the physio department of the biggest town hospital near you. They may be able to help you over the phone or internet with strapping and exercise ideas. Good Luck!
