You are vulnerable to getting hurt, but you are not ASKING for pain.
It's a risk that everyone takes when they fall in love.

it depends, i suppose. i mean, no matter what pain is a part of life. and--in terms of balance--you can't have all the good stuff without bearing through some bad stuff as well (like yin/yang, good/evil, etc...)
i wouldn't necessarily say that you're ASKING for pain... but pain is ever-present, whether we like it or not. however, it's going through that pain that will make you a stronger and better person... so the next time those same pains that you've experienced before might not be as bad. and the rewards that you reap... are well worth it.

the thing is that when you open your heart you are very very vulnerable to getting hurt, however once you find that real love it will be so so so worth it in the end.
