I have Att highspeed on my other computer. But I need to know what to I need to purchase to be able to go everywhere with the notebook

Most of the laptops released within the last 3 yrs have some form of wireless built into them.
So, you should be good to go..Check it out at a local wireless hotspot like your local library, etc.

to connect to fixed internet connections you need a simple lan cable. for wireless access if your notebook hasn't got a built-in wireless adapter buy a usb one, they're fairly inexpensive and easy to install and set up.

from your modem will need a router with wireless. most routers will be able to cover your whole house and even some of your yard. if your laptop is new you would need a wireless G router.

you have to buy a wireless router,and check to make sure your laptop have a wifi card,if not you will have to buy a external notebook card so you're ale to receive the wireless signal
