In 2004 I got a Dell inspiron 1150. A few months later it needed a new motherboard and fan.

For the last two years it's been so slow it's unusable. They've tried everything!
- reinstall OS
- memory upgrade and by the way i got fatal errors from my new dell memory card which they replaced for another one, which gave me the same error!
- change windows setting
- delete unecesary files
- last week they put in another fan
- last night they put a new harddrive, processesor, motherboard, RAM, and another fan, and guess what????
it gave me another fatal error and then it doesnt recognize the CD to reinstall windows.

You'd think customer support would be helpful? No they refuse to realize that computer is defective and must be replaced. Regular customer support gave me the special claims unit which continues to invent issues just so they don't have to replace it. Then every time I say enough is enough they say ok I'll call you back in 20 minutes, and then I'm waiting hours! AH!!

I've never been a big fan of Dell's Inspiron laptops, although their Latitudes have had issues as well. In your position, since you're still under warranty, I'd ask them to replace all the components within the laptop, and replace the power supply, since you continue to have problems and they haven't resolved it. Further, I'd recommend you contact Maximum PC Magazine to see if they could intervene on your behalf, as they have their "Dog" (as they call their consumer watchdog) or even your local TV station to see if they would do a story about the problem and intervene on your behalf. You could give Dell a nice bite for the holidays.

I've had a Dell Dimension 3000 for 3yrs. now and I haven't had a problem yet.

But I do admit that you have reason to be angry. I mean how desperate are they? Replacing a Fan? I mean, come on!
I hope you are not paying for all this. If you are, then just buy a new computer. And don't waist more cash. If they are buying it, let them keep working on it. In a while they'll realize that yjeu're waisting more money on the repairs and replace the PC. But to answer your question, no I don't hate dell. Its my favorite brand. Nothing works better and longer.

as with many companies, dell has good products, but horrible tech support, so i'm pretty neutral on the subject
