why would people get turned off by long paragraphs? i think its silly and really attests to how human nature and our attention spans have been manipulated and distorted by the cheap convenience of the internet. now that appliances such as television, computers, hand-held games, and other electronics provide instant gratification, people tend to pay less attention or ignore long things that may take them just a bit longer to do or read, even if its only for a couple of seconds. In my opinion, this is a shameful trait, and is an early sign of the corruption of the internet. Just because someone wrote something really long doesnt mean you can ignore it, and certainly doesnt mean you should ignore it. Many people share their insightful and brilliant opinions, and if it takes them five or six or ten paragraphs to do it, so what? They are sharing something that could very well be of value to everybody, and the unappealing characteristic of glossing over long text is causing those same opinions and well formulated thoughts to be ignored. The point of this entire website is to answer questions and to help share your knowledge, and I understand you're not obligated to answer or do anything. I just feel its unfair to discriminate and prejudice against questions, and not share what you know, just because you're too lazy to read it all. Your information is powerful! You are empowered! Share it with others! I know that part of this problem stems from the system Yahoo uses, and I'm not saying it should be changed, but its highly probable that the points system contributes greatly to this nasty habit of people. Thats my brief thought.

Amen! I scan it because to read the whole thing is exhausting, especially if it's rife with errors. Then I move on. No answer could possibly satisfy a person with that much time on their hands to go into so much detail for a world of strangers.

If I can still figure out the gist of the question after 10 seconds of scanning it I'll go ahead and answer it. Any more is too much of a burden unless it is a really good question.

It just depends. Sometimes I'm really not in the mood to concentrate on anything and the shorter questions are easier to answer.

Yea, most of the time. Unless it's very will written and draws me in with proper structure and an interesting topic.
