Not our local Council but here in North Lanarkshire lots of blue lights on trees and around houses etc. I don't dislike the colour blue but feel it looks really cold at Christmas. Personally, I can never make up my mind. I live in an old house and everyone complimtented on my tree when it was all red. Like everything else got fed up with it and went for clear white lights. It really didn't suit the house. This past two years have mixed red and clear. Consider an 'okay' combination (tree is 9 ft tall as I have high ceilings) but not exactly bang in fashion but then the 'in' colours just don't suit the house. Guess we all have to fit in with our surroundings.

My Local Council Seems To Have A thing About almost no lights at all. They are pathetic ! Hardly any lights. Their idea of Christmas lights is half a dozen coloured light bulbs !

Same here, Selby North Yorkshire.
Have you noticed how weird they are to look at? Like they're there, but not "really" there!
I've been told it's because human eyes can't focus properly on blue light, so everything else is in sharp focus but the blue lights seem blurred!
Weird or what?

Well we did have white lights
but most of them have been nicked or used for target practise with BB guns
It is Essex so its to be expected
oh well, hopefully next year the lights will last all Xmas

As I said in a previous Q, blue lights make a house look like a police station. Not Christmassy at all.

Perhaps you would prefer red with a hammer and sickle display on each one. Have you ever thought that the lights may be more efficient cost wise to run, require less maintenance, or are greener to produce.

Councils always seem to have issues with something, they should concentrate on running the important things, and stop meddling in the silly things that don't really matter.

They're almost all white here in Bath. I think with coloured lights it's so easy to make it look tacky, but then there are always fashions for different things.

Personally, I love blue Christmas lights. Did you know that they are in honor of the Blessed Mother? I find them to be very peaceful.
