no way freedom of speech. Censorship is ridiculous parents should take responsibilty. Many violent movies are seen as art. I see some games as art.

I don't think violent video games should be banned, as there are many fantastic video games out there and because the government should not try to censor video games or any form of art because some people are terrible parents and don't know how to take care of their child responsibly, I also personally believe that people shouldn't use video games as a scapegoat for a sociopath's violent behavior.

No. What needs to happen is for the parents to step up and stop using the television and gaming systems as babysitters. Maybe if parents took a more active role in their children's lives, we wouldn't be breeding these psychotic malcontents that find shooting up a mall or church full of innocent people a good release for pent-up frustration.

Passing more regulations to have federal management over video games, television, movies, or gun sales will do nothing more than restrict the good people while the bad find more ways to flourish.

Don't think for an instant that legislating a ban on guns will stop violent crime. All that does is stop people who understand the law and can legally defend themselves from doing so. There are plenty of people who carry guns with a legal concealed carry permit who understand how and why to use them. Those courses to get the permits are long and intense, and the permits are not issued to people with histories of violent crime or those who cannot prove they can handle the responsibility. These are not "John Waynes," these are responsible citizens who want to deter crime. If we ban guns, the criminals will still buy the guns on the black market, and then it will be defenseless children in your local school who die in a pool of blood.

I don't understand where we made a disconnect with the ability to understand our roles as parents. Parents shouldn't be buddys with their kids. Parents should be role-models. Parents should take the time to understand their kids, counsel them, and guide them through life. You are the lighthouse for the most turbulent time in their lives, yet parents these days leave our children to cast away on the rocky shore.

The better question would be why today's parents care so little about their children's lives and well-being.

Sorry, this is a bit of a hot topic for me.

The government should not be involved in this. This is a parent issue. The less government involvement we have in things the better.

The parents should be teaching their children right from wrong, not government. The same violence seen in video games is the same violence seen on TV or the News.

No. The games have ratings, so if the government were to ban violent video games, they would also have to ban violent movies, tv, books, guns, and anything else considered violent. Parents should police their impressionable children, not the government.

It's freedom of speech. I've played games like mortal kombat since I was a little kid and I've never had any violent tendencies or ever been in a fight at all. This is nothing more than a despicable way for politicians to take peoples minds off their failings in stopping crime as well as parents who refuse to accept responsibility that they either failed as a parent or that their kid is just a bad person.
It's nothing more than a feable attempt at an excuse to place blame on someone then yourself. (Not directly you, but people as a society)

Only to members of the armed forces and US military 'contractees' They need to keep a clear perspective and not slip into the dangerous margin between violent fantasy and the reality of being on foreign soil in intimidating circumstances with an awsome array of weapons at their disposal.

That's absurd. Parents should take responsibility and teach their kids about violence, fantasy, and reality. The games aren't the problem. The parents are the problem.

I play games, some violent, some not. And I'm not out there doing illegal crazy stuff. If you don't like the games, don't buy them.
So I vote no.

The people who were complaining about them demanded ratings and got them. Since a kid cant buy these games without a adult I dont see why they should be banned.
