I mean, I could get semen on something by mistake and cause someone who touched it to be infected, right?

Get an HIV test!! There are medications you can take that will slow the progress of the disease into AIDS.

As to your question, it would actually be better for you to masturbate than have sex with someone. The chances that they would touch the infected semen and get it are slim to none, but if you have unprotected sex with someone they will eventually get HIV too.

HIV must pass directly into the blood stream of another person. The most effective way is by sharing injecting equipment or through intercourse, where small tears or fizzures can occur in the vagina or anus.

It is highly unlikely that someone could become infected through touching infected blood or semen. You really need to seek professional help to fill in the gaps in your knowledge. If you suspect that you may be infected, get tested, so that you can become informed about the best ways to maintain your health.

The HIV virus is not very robust and dies VERY quickly outside of the human body. It's almost impossible to catch HIV by touching an object that has been exposed to infected body fluids. The virus has to be passed DIRECTLY between the body fluids of one person to another (as in intimate/penetrative sexual contact).

Thinking you can 'catch' it by touching infected people or objects helps to perpetuate ignorance and myth about HIV and AIDS.

And if you suspect you have HIV, you'd be well advised to get yourself checked out NOW!

no. if you get semen on say, sheet and someone else touches it, it will be ok. HIV is not a airborne virus. Once it hits the air, it dies

1. get it checked out/confirmed
2. masturbate away but make sure you flush all the tissues etc
3. wash up well afterwards
4. if you are positive make sure you tell all sexual partners before the event

No it isn't selfish. Just don't get any of your body fluids on anyone else.

Get checked first if you 'think' you have it.
