Is it just a matter of paying your share of the lawyers fees or is there more to it ?

None, and you don't pay any legal fees ordinarily, the suit was filed on behalf of a large group of people, and the fees are taken out at the end, much like a personal injury suit.

It depends. First of all, if you are not a class representative in the action itself, you don't have to do anything at all. If you are a class representative, you may have to testify. YOU DO NOT have to pay any fees. Usually class actions are "No win = No pay," which means that the attorney's fees come out of the settlement or award, if you win.
