Unfortunately I find that the evidence indicates I am more intelligent than those around me. People I meet who are as intelligent tend to move on and become distant. I can not quantify intelligence, especially in others, to the degree where I would be sure exactly how intelligent someone is so I don't know if anyone I know is more intelligent than me or not. I find the more I express my intelligence the more lonely existence becomes so I tend to dumb down most of the time to make others more comfortable and to prevent myself lecturing on topics no one is as interested in as I am.
An example is hard, but perhaps my tendency to view things that happen on many more levels than those around me, trying to make decisions taking into account more indirect factors (perhaps outside my own sphere of direct influence) doing something that other people refer rather derogatorily as over-thinking. I am blind to many subtle emotional factors of a decision, but may be aware of the wider social or political ramifications of an action so my intelligence is of an autistic nature, that is it seems one part of my brain has developed more at the expense of another. I had two highly intelligent parents so perhaps that has had an influence on the way I learned to process information, also. This is a tough part of your question.
I try to find people I can talk to and who understand my ideas at my own level, and I revel in people who are more knowledgeable than me on a topic I am interested in especially if that increases my store of valuable knowledge and particularly if it leads to conversations where an exchange between equals becomes possible (ie. I am able to contribute as well as learn) This leads me to believe we seek out others of similar intelligence. I certainly would not revel in a relationship where I was so far behind that I become aware they are dumbing down to make it easier for me to understand. I am shocked by the number of people who use their mind so little that they seem to have been given a brain by mistake. It seems to be a burden to them to think at all, they would be happier as no-thinking beings. I am also exceedingly knowledgeable on many diverse topics which leads others to comment on my apparent intelligence when they really mean I have good general knowledge. Just for fun...
A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

I happen to be smarter than most people I know. The only reason that I am aware of it is because I scored very high on a test that I did not have the needed education for and I was sent to three differnent locations to take "I.Q." tests. My listed IQ was 172. However.. if you were to encounter me, engaged in conversation with my friends, it would not be evident to you that I possess above avereage intelligence!
My problem is that I lose patience with everything. I read for months, then I play guitar for months, then I draw for months, then I'll get into some sport for a while, etc. It's frustrating. But then again.. it's more frustrating accepting the realization that I'm surrounded by idiots... Knowledge increases sorrow! But it sure is fun to beat the crap out of your friends in trivial pursuit!!

I think I am more intelligent because my friends tell me all the time that I am too smart for them. Also, I have a class rank of #1. But when it comes to my family, sometimes I'm smarter and sometimes I'm not. It just depends. Everyone is stupid at times.

more than most of my friends. However my best friend is more intelligent than me. I got better exam grades than most of my friends. I am more sporty than them and get better test results. However i would never say this 2 them. Yes i like being bright but thats not the most important thing. My friends have more common sense than me and we turn to each other for advice, which i value vey much. I love my friends to bits and wouldn' be without them. We all have specific subjects that we are good at.

I'd have to say i'm above average when it comes to the people I know. In my circle of friends, I'm mostly friends with them because of their wicked awesome sense of humor, and the things we like to do together. I do have some SUPER smart friends, and I LOVE my conversations with them because I learn something new all the time. I even learn things from the not so smart people I hang with. They can teach me what NOT to say or do ;)

I am in college, so I used to think I "know" things more than the people I work with because they aren't. But they know more things than I do. Like they retained all the stuff from highschool, when I didn't care, and I'm just now learning. It's funny how things work. I might know more about stars than any of them, but they know more about useful things.

Yes, I am more intelligent than my friends/people I know because I refuse to let them know that I know they don't know crap about what they're talking about 99% of the time.

It depends on who I am hanging out with. I believe I am a fairly smart person but then again so are my friends. I try to be friends with people who are educated like I am because I can't conversate with someone who is just plain dumb.

I am the alpha and the omega
I am omnipresent, and after a couple of beers and a curry, I am also omnipotent.
I am a creator
I am a destroyer
I am constantly evolving
I am constantly aware
This is all because I am, and nothing more.

Smarter, mostly because my peers believe me to be.
