There was nothing on my face or in my nose or in my teeth. I was nice and friendly to them.... What gives?

Maybe people are not looking weird at you, you are just seeing them with weird eyes. Did you make sure to check to see if you are (or are not) trapped in some simulated reality before you answered this question? :o)
