I'm looking into buying a second hand washburn lyon acoustic guitar with gig bag tuner new strings and a few picks from someone for $80. The guitar does not have any visible defects or scratches. I have not seen the guitar in person as I am looking on graigs list.
I'm a beginner guitar player, never actually played a guitar but I can read music and tabs.
Would it be worth it for a washburn?

They both make low end to medium and beyond. So, it's hard to compare without model numbers. A solid top is better than a laminate and the tone of solid woods will continue to improve with age. My advice is trust your ear, don't buy the one with the crack though. Don't buy one that doesn't feel good in your arms either. Find a solid top acoustic that fits you well. Don't know where you are but the Canadian company Seagull makes a good solid top small body beginner guitars in your price range.

Yes. For 80 bucks I'd buy it too.
Washburns are not bad. I owned one a few years ago. Martins, Gibsons and Taylors are the best, if you can afford them. But Washburns are good in the bargain price range.

personaly i wouldn't buy a guitar without playing it first. You can get a decent beginners guitar new for not too much more than that...especially with some of the christmas specials that are going on right now.

They are fair guitars for beginners. Just make sure it stays in tune and the neck is straight. Play it also and see if it seems too hard to press the strings down.

o yeah, in my eyes the more guitars i have the merrier. every guitar has its own sound so if you got the money i say why not. heck if you find a better one you could evern sell it and make some money off it. I on the other hand like to collect and hang on the music wall.

Yes...

The only drawback might be that the neck is warped...

Once a guitar neck is warped...

It's unplayable...
