It's "allowed." And 50 years ago, a white person couldn't marry someone of a different race under the law, and of course, now, we consider that law to be antiquated and racist. I think it's only a matter of time before it's accepted, and anyone who is crazy enough to get married -- straight or gay -- is legally allowed to do so.

Furthermore, if same-sex couples have the same rights as straight couples, it doesn't make any straight couple less married, or their vows any less sacred. I can't stand people who act like their rights will be violated by giving someone else the right to do as they please.

As long as you separate religious sacrament from civil contract, there is no problem.

There is no reason the federal and state governments should deny a civil contract (called marriage) to gay couples. At the same time, there is no reason any particular religion should be forced to perform something they consider a sacrament for people who do not qualify.

The problem lies in the fact that both government and religions use the same word to mean two different things. The simple fix? Strike the word 'marriage' from ALL federal and state law, and instead allow all couples, gay or straight, to have state-sanctioned civil unions. Then leave it up to the religions to determine who can have the sacrament called marriage.

Not allowing Gay Marriage is discrimination. The majority are able to enjoy it and the minority must watch from the sidelines. Look at the state of marriage now, utter chaos. People get divorced so often. If gay couples truly want to stay together it should be allowed.

As long as they don't invite me on the honeymoon, why not! Let same sex couples marry if they want to.

With all of the other problems government has, this should be far, far, far down the list of things we are worrying about.

I don't care if two people of the same sex get a civil union. It does not effect my life at all.

hmmm, well if we look at it from stricktly a constitutional right, there is no question that they should have the right to get married, religion shouldnt play such a big part in our country as it is doing.

but since we have these states with the laws that they cant, i say they shouldnt if the law is there, its one thing if they are in a legal state, but a whole other if they arent, i have no issues with homosexuals, do what you want, who am i to judge, but you shouldnt break state laws to do it.

There is no question that homosexuals should be allowed to get married.
Marriage predates religion. If you disagree with the concept, then don't participate. Why take away somebody else's right?

I agree. Quite frankly, I firmly believe that church and state should be SEPARATE. I believe that the state should NOT recognize ANY marriage - it's up to that person's church.
