how bout this:
Therefore, during the civil war, it was proven that none of the men's acheivments could have been even possible without the women, the people that helped to guide them through this harsh and dangerous time.
kinda long, but it would work, i think. then again, i'm in 5th, so i don't know much about the civil war yet...

it's who. Whom would be used more like... without the women by whom they were guided, or something like that. But in your sentence it's who and i think your closing sentence is fine.

Who relates to whom in the same way he relates to him. Who is the subject, whom is the object.
We can keep most pronouns straight most of the time. Native speakers of English, for instance, would never say, "Him go to the party" or "The ball hit he." Yet when using who/whom those same speakers often get confused.
The confusion arises because who and whom are used only in questions — "Who called?" "To whom did she speak?" — or in relative clauses:
"The boy who lives next door called us."
"She spoke to George, with whom she had attended many meetings."
In yours, who would be used.

Who, for sure. Maybe instead of starting your sentence with "Therefore," you could write "In conclusion,". Looks good though!
