Ovelchuk or Kovachkin - they seem to be interchangable.

I like Oveltine better.

Ovechkin. Look at who he has on his team to help. No one. Ovechkin has the biggest scoring gap over his teammates in the league at 14 goals. He has 21 and the next closest is Nylander with 7. It is incredible that he can do so much all by himself.

If that doesn't do it for you yet, Ovechkin is an incredible +9 on an team with an abysmal 11 and 17 win/loss record. Kovalchuk is -1 on a .500 team.

Chris; you greatly underestimate Kovalchuk. He has been a great player ever since he started playing. He won the Rocket Richard trophy in 2003 (or 2004?).

TBL: that is frickin hilarious!! You should totally do that to all the Cup questions! LMFAO!

btw, I do think Ovechkin is better; but just barely.

I would have to say Kovalchuk. He displays more natural abilities. Ovechkin is a very talented hockey player, but he is not Kovalchuck.

Letsgomets
Kovalchuk scored 29 goals as a rookie in 2001-2002........not even close to leading the league (He was 16th)! Ovechkin finished 2nd in goals as a rookie.

I give the nod to Ovechkin

To me it is a push, 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Maybe a slight edge to Ovechkin based on having topped the 100 point barrier and being 2 years younger.

Wow, that is all i can say.

i hate people who ask questions like this just because someone is having a good season.

Ovechkin obviously is, there is no doubt there, he is consistantly better then Kovalchuk.

Sure, Kovalchuk is having a good season, but so is Nik Antropov, but i havn't crowned him amazing player of the NHL.

i just think this a question where if you use your common sence, you would know.
