BERLIN - A man nearly died from alcohol poisoning after quaffing two pints of vodka at an airport security check instead of handing it over to comply with new rules about carrying liquids aboard a plane, police said Wednesday.

I used to love my martinis - but isn't this going a bit too far? Have you ever done something equally stupid?

[He's in hospital as we speak]

What he has done is down right stupid. The most I will have at any time is just 2 drinks and I do so at home only. I don't drink outside of my home. And I do so when I am sure I will not be going out for the rest of the evening.
Its sad to here that there are people such as that man you pointed out. I had read the headline earlier today. But just the headline alone was enough for me to guess as to what kind of person he might be. Its not something most normal people would care to do.

Duh, It's just a bottle of booze, so buy another on on the other end. But you can't tell that to an alcoholic. You would have to pry it from their dead cold hands first. Sad but true.
I grew up with an alcoholic Dad, so I have seen it firsthand. A few of my brothers have had problems. I have tended to stay away from anymore than social drinking growing up. Now I am more prone to an occasional wine with dinner or a few beers now and then. Only got real drunk once in my life on Rum and coke, which I never drank, and passed out. That was enough of that.

what he should have done was make the best of a bad situation --- told the check in folks he was going to take the next's day flight took a taxi back to a hotel -- spend the night and over the next 24 hours has a spread out drunk --- that way he could have spend maybe 350 usd to save his 5 usd worth of vodka -- both he would have showed those folks!!! on the lighter side i can not believe that the checkers let his do such a stupid thing and they should be held responsible!!!

I just read the story about the Vodka guzzler. Yikes!!! I very rarely ever partake of an alcholic beverage but when I do, it's a small glass of wine to salute others, during the holidays.

Stuck on stupid. I like that and that is what he was. I have lived with 2 alcoholics and know exactly what that is like. Don`t want to go into anymore detail. But I think that guy needs help.

We were driving from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles one summer and had stopped at a roadside fruit stand to purchase a flat of bing cherries. When we arrived at the California border, the agricultural station guy said we couldn't take them into the state. So we stood outside our car and ate every last one of them. Ummmm ... may I just say that the last 4 hours of our drive were pure misery and we "discovered" every gas station bathroom along the way!!!

I don't like alcoholic beverages. The only stupid thing I ever did was mix Bacardi rum with root beer (to get rid of the yucky taste) and then I threw up. So much for my drinking experience.

What's strange is that he was switching planes, so he was able to get it on another plane from where he was originating from. This just points out how weak airport security is.

Clearly this guy has a problem with alcohol. Normal people don't drink like that.
