They sell the door stop things at wal-mart or babies r us... they are all plastic.. so there is no spring.

I think it's made by safety first.

Or the next best thing is to take them off..... Dont wanna pinch those little fingers.

They make great alternatives now you can get at almost any hardware store.

Thanks for the memories though, I grew up in a house where every door had one of these behind them. I used to love the sound (and occasionally if I can get away with it will spring one here and there when I find them). I only learned how to play with them smarter as a child after I pinched my fingers a couple of times, never stopped playing with them, they are way to much fun with that neat noise they make!

Your son likes them because he can whack them and they'll move; and sometimes they'll make a sound like "sproing". This is hypnotic for a 9-month old. Best thing would be to take the door things off entirely so he doesn't hurt himself. Give him something else he can whack and make move without, of course, driving you nuts.

We just moved into a home we had built- and the first thing we did was remove the rubber ends to the door stops and baby proof. That's all we did and she has been fine.

Now, if we can just get her to stop climbing!

Remove them and use rubber floor stoppers that you screw into the floor. Then he will have nothing to play with but you and his toys.

redirect his attention or take them off totally.
