No, my friends play football and they work out 7 hours a day during double days, 3 when they don't and I respect them for all their hard work. Most of them could get college scholarships, even a full ride, that's why they take it so seriously. They are fit, not even big, I've seen some of the smallest linebackers ever and they do just fine. They do rip on the soccer kids but that's really only 8th grade football players, after high school they don't really give a sh*t hahaha :) They don't get up in each other's faces, they don't act like the classic high school stereotype "Jocks". They do take their sport seriously and they can get injured easily, but that's why they train so hard and work on injury preventiveness. I like watching hockey better tho :D Cus they're actually allowed to fight hahaha

Football, American style is a game of wits, strategy, brute strength and extreme skill. That is why it is so popular. It is the modern age equivalent of the gladiator battles of Ancient Rome. Now, if you know next to nothing about it. of course it will seem dumb. But that is only because you are ignorant.
