some people feel concealed makes less of a "scene". Many states have open carry laws and then everyone knows you have a gun. Concealed carry keeps it hidden. If a person is law abiding and has passed all required checks, why should it matter anyway?
I'd be more worried about those who have no permits and are looking to harm you.

The recent shooting in Colorado was stopped cold by a woman with a concealed carry permit.
Virginia tech had several students who where close to the shooting and had been denied the right to carry on campus even though they had legal, Virginia full carry permits. Imagine if one of them did have a gun, how many lives would have been saved.

Coincidentally, the states with the least restrictive gun laws have the LOWESt crime rates (Vermont) while those with the most restrictive gun laws (DC, NY, NJ, Ca etc) all have cities with the highest crime rates. Wonder why that is?

An unarmed person is a victim.

Its not necessary. However, the Police by law and training are a reactionary force which means the bad guy has to do something bad before they can intercede. This usually woks out that the best person to deal with a weapon situation is someone immediately on site with training, knowledge, gun and will to use it. Not necessary, but smart.

It is necessary to conceal a weapon when you don't want other people to know that you have it. People with this legitimate need are, off duty police officers, judges, money and jewel couriers, victims of certain crimes, and some would say anyone that didn't want to become a victim

Some people believe that carrying a concealed weapon makes them more safe. Whether this is true or not is up for debate.

Criminals prefer easy targets. They don't like 'victims' that fight back. If they don't know who is armed, they never know if it is 'safe' to attack someone.

NOTE: Nearly ALL mass shootings share the following characteristics:
A. They happen in 'gun free' zones.
B. The shooter turns the gun on themselves unless someone shoots them first. Shooting them BEFORE they are don't shooting others saves lives.
C. Some anti-gun nuts always call for MORE laws that would not have stopped the shooter, but WOULD have prevented a law abiding person from stopping the shooter.

do u really not know. watch the news. i personally find it fairly scary to think of the general public running around with guns. i definitely believe you should have to get a concealed weopons permit. at least that would limit some of the whackos packing. but, maybe some of these random shooting incidents would come to a quick end.
