depends. was it a misdemeanor? Most DWI's are. You may have plead it down to a lessor, non criminal offense or violation of the law, which is NOT a crime. In that case the answer would be no.

You need to see exactly what the disposition was. Usually, first time DWI's are plead down to a DWAI (driving while ability impaired) or similar offense.

Get out your court records and look. It will sometimes say or at least give the penal law code or VTL code you plead guilty to. Then look it up.

post the info, what state you are in and the law you where convicted of and someone on here will find out exactly what it is.

If you were convicted, the answer is, and always will be YES. If the question was "Have you ever been convicted of a FELONY?", the answer may not be yes. My version is more common on job applications, but answer the question you were asked.

Well, usually the questions on applications ask if you have ever been convicted of a "felony"....not merely a crime.

But if that is the actual question....well, yes it is a crime.

I recommend lying anyway......if it comes back for you to defend ....explain you thought that was merely a traffic issue, and thus, omitted it from the application.
