take the pacifier and bottle away. He is 11 months and will be one on January 10th. Should I take the pacifier away now or wait till his first birthday? When should I take the bottle away? Around age 2? When did you do these things ladies?

Hello Ms. Chocolate!! I must say that I was lucky, my son stopped using his pacifier at 10 months on his own. (He had a cold and could not breathe with it in his mouth.) I say just don't let him be one of those kids that are 5 years old walking around with a pacifier. But as far as the bottle goes, when he was 2 we took the bottle away. Prepare for a temper tantrum for about 3 nights. My son only took a bottle at night at 2 but he really missed it. After 3 nights, he took the sippy cup without a complaint.

Good luck!!

I switched from bottle to sippy cup with my daughter when she was 13 months old....as for the binky, she's 2 1/2 and still uses one when she goes to sleep, I am planning on getting rid of it by the time she is 3.
Do either of these things whenever you want, whatever works for you and your son.

I am planning on havin my son off the bottle by 15 months at 12 months I will start to wean. As for the passy. I will let him wean from that. He isn't addicted to it. He only sleeps with it or when he gets his shots. He sometimes sucks on it when he is awake for comfort but other than that he doesn't use it. So I don't think its that big of a deal.

i have 3 kids and they let the bottle and pacifier go on their own. i find it if you force them to do it, it only makes them want it more.
you know the saying "you always want what you can't have".
don't worry, i'm sure he will be just fine.
good luck,
Audrey♥

As long as its before kindergarten you are okay. Be sure when you take either away you replace it with something else to make the transition easier.
