yeah many young ppl do that when they get in more mature relationships and more feelings are there, that kind of stuff will stop.

I am waiting until after Christmas to tell my Significant Other that it's over for U/us. The presents have nothing to do with it. W/we are just wrong for each other and neither O/one of U/us is truly happy so one of U/us has to end it I just didn't want to do it before Christmas because I don't want to hurt Him. I do still love Him and probably always will. But things just aren't "right" for U/us at this particular point in time. I hope to someday get back together with Him when W/we can work things out. I love Him so very much--and I dread breaking up with Him. Say a prayer or two for us between now and then. Thanks!

I have heard stories you can look at it in one of two ways at least they did not make them suffer and be miserable through the holidays... yes they played a pretense but I think it's much worse to break up with em right before the holiday because it makes the person (dumpee) feel bad and awful... or it could be bad if the person only waited to break up with them to get the gift.

My sisters husband left her and her 3 children 4 days before christmas. He then left the woman that he left my sister for, at Christmas some years later.

My ex-husband broke up with me a month after the holidays, but it had nothing to do with gifts, the timing was just bad.

No. I've only known people to dump someone BEFORE the holiday/special occasion, so they wouldn't have to buy a gift for them at all.

hmm... that's why people should save the expensive and unexpected gifts for some other time of the year, and save christmas for a cheaper meaningful gift.
also, doesn't sound like he was being very attentive to how their relationship was going, IMHO.

I have heard of at least two couples that broke up on Christmas Day. Is that better?
