I don't think any states prevent gun purchase if convicted of a misdemeanor. I think only felonies count.

misdemeanors are not a stopping factor for purchasing a gun, at lest in most states. mental defect, felony record those are causes to stop you from purchasing

I believe that in most states it is a felony that prevents legal gun ownership. you should be able to find out at a local sporting goods store what the laws are in your area.
