When I picked up my Superglide on 01 July 06, I was handed an extra piece of paper to sign. It was an addendum to the owner's manual, altering the primary case oil change interval to 5K miles and requiring an inner primary bearing change at 15K. This is supposed to be a no charge replacement as the factory requires it. Apparently the bearings are examined for wear. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it still in effect? I asked the Service Manager at the dealership nearest me, and he said he didn't know anything about it. I gave him a copy of the addendum and he said he would get back to me. Haven't heard anything yet.

I know we have some actual HD techs around here - any input?

Low Jac - the interval for '06 Dynas is 5k for engine, primary, and trans. This was not a letter sent to me, but a modification to the owner's manual that I had to sign saying I recieved and understood it.

Yes, I kept the original.

The rule for the Dyna's is you need to change the oil on them every 2500 miles and they all will begin to leak oil from the trans case.

Same is true for the 06' Softails.

You will need to contact HD directly on there hot line and ask them, they are the ones who sent out the letter, also have them contact your local dealer and tell them, so you are not charged for this replacement.

HD Dealer ships never call you unless you order something or they want you to pay for something.

Dude, I had a supposed H-D "tech" answer one of my questions. When I took my bike to the shop it turned out that nothing could have been further from the truth! Gotta watch some of these "techs" on line. Some of them would be happy to see you wreck your motor.

Have you tried www.hogonline.com? You can usually get the straight skinny there on just about everything. Hope you didn't give the dealer putz the original copy! And just for giggles and other stuff, if it says miles, and has no expiration date, then it's still in effect. Especially on something legally binding like a bill of sale.

And the first dude is right, they never call you back. When I got my FXDWG (It was used, but supposedly fully serviced.) My indie wrench checked it out. She needed about $300 bucks worth of work. I went to the dealer and showed him the bill fora supposedly fully serviced and inspected bike. Said he would take to the service tech and get back to me. That was over a year ago.

And that's why I ride over 20 miles to this guy, and not to the dealer who is just 2 miles away. I just wish this guy sold bikes so that I would never have to go to the dealer again. He's also cheaper than the dealer. (Not by much, but it adds up.)

Hope you get you scoot done right, G. Take care, ride safe. Ciao!

follow it up with your salesman.... sales people tend to get crusty if their service dept doesn't help make them look good... then you'll have more than 1 person at your dealer looking into it
