A real man lives by the Golden Rule, respects others, takes care of his responsibilities, sets an example, loves unconditionally, lives up to his potential, realizes his limitations but strives to overcome them, expects others to be exactly who they are. I could go on and on and on. Someone once said, "Any BOY can create a child, but it takes a MAN to raise one." I think that pretty much sums it up.

Since we are all God's children we must align our lives with what the Creator wants for us. Please take the time to read the book of Proverbs in the Bible.
The " Essence " of man was set forth by Jesus Christ who was the supreme example for us to follow. He proved to " be the best that he could be, " by following His Father's wishes in
order to pay the ransom of his life for us and our sins. Jesus as our Heavenly and earthly brother showed the highest form of love for us by die-ing and suffering for our sins.
If you are looking for honest, truth-full, intelligent answers then the Bible has the answers you are looking and searching for. Look in the book of Proverbs. There you will find many answers to your questions. Proverbs was written as a guide to a better life for those who will take God's advice and follow what the book points out.
Please take the time to read what it says. You will then gain some very important insights that are wisdom inspired and will help you find the answers you are genuinely seeking.
Best Wishes,
Wood

Compassion...without the awareness of anothers pains, cares, worries and woes a man is not fully using his emotions.
Courage...not the physical, bravado kind of false courage, but true courage. The courage that comes from deep conviction, from not fearing to be, and say, and do, what is right...what his heart and soul and mind tell him is right.
Strength...... of purpose...to be willing to go on in the face of failure, to be willing to go against the odds to accomplish what is necessary. And strength enough to be able to say, I am wrong, and do whatever it takes to learn why.
Leadership....being able to give guidance and direction rather than simply issuing orders.
Mercy....to be kind and caring, able to forgive insults and slights without vengeance and rancor, to treat helpless ones compassionately, to temper judgment with understanding.
Lastly, the ability to speak when needed, listen when needed, with patience and knowledge.
For me, these are the essence; the essence of what it means to be a person that others are willing to listen to, look up to, want to emulate. Is there anything better a man can aspire to than to have even one young man say...now, that's a man, I want to be like that.

The essence of a man is to love the Lord with all your heart and love Jesus. Treat your wife like the treasure she is. Raise your children in the ways of God.
In other words, real men love Jesus :)
