and our health care so our corporations & businesses don't have to, funding of our children's schools so we can have the most educated students on the planet to be prepared for an increasing competitive world we live in, repairing of crumbling roads, highways and bridges, and other needs our country has so we can remain competitive and democratically strong in today's world? Why does this adminsitration and the GOP want to keep shipping our money to Iraq, the middle east and to an already bottomless money pitt of the military at the sacrifice of our own citizens and our children's future?

Call Me Bwana .... The Iraq war is going to cost more than 3 trillion. And, the military already gets over 50% of the discretionary budget in this country. That means that almost 50% of your tax dollars goes to the military and 20% of your taxes goes to pay the interest on our national debt that Bush has escalated.

First of all I believe that all of the current candidates do "care" about the American People. And each of them have some sort of plan to address the issues you are concerned about. However there view of a solution to the issues may not reflect your view. For the most part crumbling roads, highways and bridges is a local and state issue rather then a national issue, as well as education. Though I think the national government should play a greater role in education and healthcare others disagree, this doesn't mean that they have no concern for the issue, just a difference of opinion.

I am so happy you brought up the subject.
The only way to get candidates/officials to care about America is to BAN the foreign lobby that have very very heavy hands in shaping US policies inside and abroad, namely the powerful A I P A C lobby, all of Dubya's policies have been laid down directly and indirectly by this foreign Jewish lobby.

This malignant Jewish lobby have been pursuing the waste of billions of our Taxes to promote a racist and immoral entity that broke every human right and international law.

Instead of investing those billions of dollars in the health care and education of Native America!

Cut the money blood line to the cancerous AIPAC and we will have enough funds for the needy in America.

I get the feeling that the $2.8 trillion our government already spends in the US every year isn't enough for you. Will the extra $0.08 trillion being spent on Iraq really make that much difference? Why does this pittance we're throwing at Iraq make you so angry?

How much more until you're satisfied that the government has given you everything you want?

And for my edification and that of others on this site, please indicate the specific Article in the Constitution that gives the government the power and authority to tax and spend on health care, education, infrastructure, etc.
---
$3 trillion? Hahahahahahahaha! That is the projection of the entire cost since the first shot was fired if we maintain a sizable force, like 75,000 or more, in Iraq for the next 10 years, too.

And don't give me that malarky about "discretionary", because it is ALL DISCRETIONARY. The governmemt does not have one single solitary obligation to outlay all those "entitlements". (It doesn't have the Constitutional authority, either, but that's another argument for another day.) Legally, they could abolish those programs tomorrow, and you would have no recourse.

These exist only because they get elected giving the plebes "bread & circuses", to the degradation and decline of our once great republic.

Per the Constitution, the enumerated duties of the government are to defend this country, engage in treaties, regulate trade, secure our borders, provide for a common currency, and other explicit duties.

NOT provide for retirement, provide health insurance, provide housing, provide food stamps, provide prescription medicine, provide education, etc, etc.

Wikipedia is not always a good source. It's written by common people. Falwell isn't a racist. Knew him personally and I'm 1/2 black. His university has a large minority population. He's given to the poor and needy. Your points on our national debt are very good.

Nemie,
We have one!---and his name is Dennis Kucinich.
Now, I have no reasonable hope that he'll be elected president, or even come close to procuring the nomination. He's not tall enough, suave enough, or sufficiently blow-dried for the American people...plus there's that foreign-sounding name. People with names like "Kucinich" (or Obama, for that matter) aren't "presidential" enough, never mind that their brains have many times the capacity of our current, er, "leader".

As long as campaign contributions are allowed, you won't get any cadidates that care about American people. Global corporations run the show.
