Im trying to find the cost of a yellow page ad.
Its for a school project that due tomorrow, so its too late to call the company.

Im not sure what size, but id probably like to do something for the entire year or maybe 6 months. The ads gonna be for a local ice cream parlor.

Do you know if i can find the price online?
Thanks

It is NEVER to late to call the phone company. They have several 24 hour numbers. If you wait till the last minute to do homework you KNOW requires contacting a company during business hours, you EARNED whatever not having the answer gets you.

I suppose it depends on the area of the country you are in. A small metro area won't command the prices that a larger area will. Also, the size of the ad comes into consideration, as they sell eveything from a listing to a full page ad.

Several years ago, I ran a yellow page ad, it was about the size of a business card, and it added $80.00 to my bill every month. Funny thing is, it didn't increase my business, and as long as I had the same phone number, I had to pay the bill.

A simple answer is "too much". You are better off just going with the free listing they give and doing your own marketing efforts.

Also, keepin mind that there is competition in the phone book area, so you may not get the coverage needed. Here are a couple of links to interesting articles you might be able to use.

Good Luck,

Michael

I don't know about your area. Prices do vary by location.

I know that a quarter page ad, with color, cost my wife $1200 per month when she was running a flower shop several years ago.

We always had to talk to a phone company sales person to get pricing information.

It's 4:23 Central right now. A yellow pages sales office on the west coast would still be taking calls. It's long distance, but you could keep the call short.

First of all run only a one line ad in the phone book that is free with the business phone number listing. Phone book listings are for a year, no more no less. People don't use the phone book to find a local ice cream shop but might need to call you for your open hours. Then run small discount ads in your local newspaper. You can run them during ice cream season. You can get the price from the back of the newspaper in the ad section or go on the internet. Join the local Chamber of Commerce and have local stores give discount coupons with purchases. Good Luck
