Monopoly is the worst because
1/ it is too long
2/ you control nothing (luck with dice is all you need)
3/ the board is ugly
4/ you cannot do anything to block opponents
Trivial pursuit is also quite boring because most of the questions are uninteresting and the here also if you don't get the good value with the dice you never get the missing color.

There are a lot of stinkeroos out there but the most elaborate production to disappoint was Wadjet. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/1422

I agree with zeca!! Backgammon is the worst board game, its inventor really had way too much time on his hands... I feel sorry for him really... :(
