It can be, if the soup is hearty enough. A thin or cream soup is an accompaniment for a meal, but some soups have everything you need: veg, starch and protein. Hunter's soups, cheese and veg soups, stews are all good bets.

Yes. Anything can technically be a "meal", but some things I'd suggest not eating.

Oh, absolutely....I especially like it for lunch....my favorite meal is creamed tomato soup and a grilled cheese....
But Crab Chowder or Potato with bacon and cheese is right up there with my favorites...some nice croutons,,,crackers,,,or nice sturdy bread,,,,you got a good meal..
Ham and split pea is pretty good too. any bean soup is good....I am having cream of asparagus for lunch today,,,homemade,,,I don't like the canned stuff......too salty....

If you eat enough of it. My first question whenever I go into a restaurant is "What kind of soup do you have?"
