My wife and I have been looking into names for baby boys, and we came up with some good ones. I went looking on my own for a cool and unique name, but I want to narrow my list down. These are the names that I really like, tell me what you think:

Felix, Titus, Vincent, Otto, Anthony, Giovanni, Jack, Ian, Guy, Laird, and Calvin.

And just to throw it out there, Im going to ask my wife if we can give our son a really, really unique middle name. I was thinking along the lines of: Plato, Aeneas, Midas, Limas, or Aristotle. I thought those names would be cool, but I havent talked to my wife about it yet.

What do you think of these names for my son?

Haha. I just threw those middle names out there because me and a friend of mine were discussing that stuff. I know my wife would never go for it, but we were thinking "what if..." Just seeing what you thought.

Well my favorite name is Ian followed by Vincent, Anthony ,
Guy.

I don't know about those middle name choices. Why do you want to give this kid a name like Plato, Midas etc. You would not be doing this child a favor, only satisfying your own ego

I know you probably want to name him something unique and noble but you must also think of the ridicule that he may receive with a name like Otto - TRUST ME!!! It is a very important task - picking a child's name. Now, I do like Calvin, Ian, and Anthony they are simple and not too common. The middle names however - throw them out. I hope you don't take offense but your wife probably won't like her son to be named Titus Plato. Just remember, you won't be in the school bathroom to save him from the bully that wants to flush Little Giovanni Limas down the toilet for a "swirlee". I'm named after a season and I have been relentlessly ridiculed all through life despite how pretty senior citizens think my name is. So whatever you do - CHOOSE WISELY!

Ian is my favourite, although Vincent, Anthony, Giovanni and Felix aren't bad either.

I do like names from Greek mythology too, but they're mostly girl names because I'm not crazy on the boy names. I don't like Plato, Aeneas, Midas, Limas, or Aristotle. They seem kinda weird, especially Aristotle, and a name like that one or Aeneas will get mispronounced. Limas reminds me of beans, while Plato and Midas are both pretty well-known stories/myths so I don't like the association.

Hey,

Those name may seem cool now, but they are the names that you will get sick of within a year or two. "Cool" names are always going out of style as well. Pick something more classic, but original at the same time. Out of the names you chose, I liked Guy, Laird and maybe Calvin.
The ones that he will defenately get teased for and are not "cool" at all are Felix, Titus, Vincent, Otto and Giovanni. Can you imagine a teacher asking, "Please raise your hand, Giovanni." It just doesnt sound right.
How about the name Albert? Or James?

Good Luck

You are a brave soul throwing such uncommon names up against public opinion...lol Yahoo answers can be a tough place for that....I know first hand! Here is my take you and your wife like all of the names you listed therfore, go for it! Just be careful what you wish for when you ask what people think. You might have been better off asking which ones were preferred but hey. I like Socertese and Phinneus for boys always have.....so

Phinneus Calvin
Calvin Socertese
Anthony Titus
Giovanni Calvin
Phinneus Guy
Socertese Vincent
Felix Midas

I think my favorite is Laird...my least favorite would be Felix.

I think your middle name choices are just mean. Try to remember that this child you're going to name is an actual human being, who will have to live with his name for his whole life (and who you're supposed to love enough to give your life for, so why would you be that mean to him?). Stand in front of the mirror, and say, "My name is Laird Plato Smith"...and see how comfortable you are with that. And then imagine the same thing at age seven, and how your friends would have reacted, if they'd heard your middle name.

I think the unusual first names are unusual enough. Any one of those mixed with Thomas, Michael, Anthony or Stephen as a middle name would probably be great.

Out of the first names, I really like Jack, Ian, Vincent and Giovanni.
As far as middle names are concerned, (wince) Aeneas is the coolest. The rest are really strange. (no offense).
I like these for middle names: Cezanne, Liam, Whitton, Blaize (actually the patron saint of throats!), and Topher.

Congrats on your son! May he and your wife be healthy during, before and after the birth! :-D

{BTW-> GO BUCKS!}

First off, keep in mind that if you give your child an unusual name, he will probably teased his entire life. Out the choices you listed, I like the name Ian the best. My favorite masculine name is David.

We also have Calvin on our list. It's great!

I'm not too fond of the middle names you have. What about partnering the names you have at the top together?

Like: Calvin Titus... or Calvin Anthony?
