I mean it's open but there is no money in the account it's negative

It could - it depends on the bank and the depositor agreement you received when you opened the account. Generally, though, there is a waiting period of several days that the banks give you to clear up any overdraft. If you don't clear it up, they will write off the account and it will affect your credit rating. It will also affect your CHEX system rating making it difficult - if not impossible - to open another bank account anywhere. Go talk to the bank and see if they will work with you to pay back the overdraft or take a loan out to put it in the positive.

Having a ZERO balance in a checking account will not even appear on you credit report. If you OWE the bank money, that will appear as a delinquent debt on your credit report.
