Well, there are the obvious laws that protect your property and give you the right to defend it. You have the right to build, and do things to it. But there are many laws that restrict what you can do to protect the environment and others around you. For example, if you have a large lot of land and it get a lot of water when it rains. In most cities it would be illegal to build an intricate drainage system that just dumped the water onto the property next to you. That would be a law restricting your property as a means to protect someone else's.
