It's 99.9% of lawyers give the rest a bad rap.

An attorney, cross-examining the local coroner, queried, "Before you signed the death certificate had you taken the man's pulse?"

"No," the coroner replied.

"Well, then, did you listen for a heart beat?"

The coroner answered, "No."

"Did you check for respiration? Breathing?", asked the attorney.

Again the coroner replied, "No."

"Ah," the attorney said, "So when you signed the death certificate you had not taken any steps to make sure the man was dead, had you?"

The coroner rolled his eyes, and shot back "Counselor, at the time I signed the death certificate the man's brain was sitting in a jar on my desk. But I can see your point. For all I know he could be out there practicing law somewhere."

No it means he was in the news a lot.....

The monthly magazine gave the awards to lawyers who made the most news, said editor and publisher Edward A. Adams.

"Think about Time magazine's Person of the Year," Adams said in an interview. "In years past they've named people like Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin. So we're not suggesting by these awards that these are the best lawyers in any sense of the word. We are saying they are the most newsworthy — and perhaps also the best."

The Bush Admin rewards incompetence...didn't "Brownie" get some kind of award when he was in charge of FEMA? A little off topic, but I am confused as to why a "pro-life" President would appoint the judge who WROTE the law in Texas allowing a minor to get an abortion without their parents' consent...I'm pro-choice, and that is disturbing to me...why not to a pro-life Christian?

1." I dont recall"
2."I dont remember"
3. "I dont recall remembering"
4." I forgot what happened"
5." Im a puppet for the bush administration and love to suck off Cheney"

Remember that being "Lawyer of the Year" or "Personality of the Year" doesn't necessarily mean that they did something GOOD, but rather that whatever action they committed had a BIG impact nationally and/or internationally.

if you read the article it said that the only factor they considered for the award was newsworthiness. he certainly made a lot of headlines, even if it was for doing horrible things, so i guess they picked the right guy.
