so if I have the basic sims 2 already installed to my computer and then I install the Seasons expansion pack, which cd do I have to have in my computer while I play the game? the season's or the first one from the basic sims 2?

You will need Seasons. Regardless of what order you buy the expansion packs, you will always need the most recent expansion pack's disc to play the game.
So if you later purchase Pets, which came out before Seasons, even though you installed Pets last, you will still need the Seasons disc to run the game.

Sims 2 Seasons. You will always need the latest installed expansion for playing the game. But don't lose the old disks in case you need to reinstall things at some point.

the sims 2 seasons.
whenever you install a new ep, you have to use the first disc of the latest expansion pack (for example, you have sims 2 installed, followed by bon voyage then university. even though you installed university recently you have to use bon voyage's first disc to play because it is the latest expansion pack released)

Free Time (coming in February)
You'll always play with the latest released expansion. In your case you will use Seasons.

Your DVD drive is dirty. One of the first signs is that is stops reading a DVD but will still read a CD. Pick up a can of air and a laser lens cleaner. Open the drive, blow it out with the air can then run the laser lens cleaner through it three or four times. Good luck.

Once you have downloaded both of the cd's, 1 & 2, you can't lose disc #1. That is the one you play with. If you try playing with the regular "Sims 2" It will say "Please insert your expansion pack." Or whatever.
Hope I helped, but after all, it's disc one of "sims 2 seasons"

Insert disc. Make sure you got all of your disc though in case you need to reinstall some items. Trust me, it happens. :)
