This winter I plan to move two harley touring bicycles down to Florida from michigan. Its about 1000 miles. The two bicycles weigh 2000 pounds total plus the trailer which is 1400 pounds. I have a 2002 ford explorer V6 4.0 4 wheel drive with a 1 1/4" receiver. Should I upgrade to a 2" receiver? Will my vehicle make it?

You should be just fine. 2400 pounds isn't that much weight as trailers go. Only thing I would do is look into getting a transmission cooler upgrade but seeing as it's going to be winter not that big a deal.

look in your owners manual, it is available online at the ford parts and accessories web sight. my brither pulls a 2700 pound travel trailer with his v6 explorer. no modifications but yours could be different there is a tag,I believe in the glove box with the gross vehicle weigght for your particular set up. also check on the hitch, for the rating on it. the hitch may be rated lower then the truck. it is usually better to be over rated then close to the limit. I would definatly have the brakes looked at,Just because you can pull it don't mean you can stop it!

you're unlikely to get a quote for decrease than $800. you're taking a significant possibility identifying to purchase a motorbike off eBay. you're additionally taking a huge possibility identifying to purchase it sight unseen. Ninjas are resold each and all the time. verify on craigslist for something community and take a rider/buddy with you to furnish it a as quickly as-over. And haggle.
