What are the current market shares for Apple and Microsoft?

I want to find the current market shares for Apple and Microsoft but can't find any information. Does anybody know where I can find this?

When all is said & done, it is usually accepted that Apple has in the order of 6-8% of the installed market ...

I assume you are trying to compare Operating System sales (if you meant personal Computer sales you would have to compare Apple to Dell, HP etc). ....

.. however Apple sells (more or less) direct to the public ,.. whilst most of Microsoft's sales go to PC builders (like Dell) and dealers (shrink wraped boxes on shelves) and (of course) direct to major companies ..

Further, MS offers many different Operating Systems and a number of "multiple user license" packs ..... which one(s) are you comparing ? (should you count a 10,000 user Vista Enterprise license as 10,000 sales ? after all, many of those will be upgrades to older systems (and not new installs) plus the customer may never actually use all 10,000 licenses ?)
