It means they have already paid for their helmet at the checkout counter, and when they go to leave the store, the security guard at the Walmart will see that the cashier put a sticker on it, so they know it was paid for - no showing of the receipt is necessary.

You may have noticed the green dots on the back of NFL quarterbacks’ helmets. That’s something new for this year. All QBs will have a green dot on their helmet. It signifies that the player has a radio helmet and the NFL will put the stickers on the helmets themselves each week. Only a QB can have a radio, and only one green dot can be on the field at a time. So, if a 2nd string QB comes in for a trick play, he has to have a different helmet to wear.

it marks the helmet as being equipped with a microphone receiver. so only the QB can hear the coach call a play because he has the only one. as a side not they shut the speaker off when the play is going down so they don't have people saying crap in their ear.
