Aren't there any pen pal sites that are just that? Don't want one for dating, I am semi retired, and bored out of my mind. I just want to find a few people my age, simular interests, etc. just to write to. Do you other seniors remember writing (and) recieving letters. Wasn't that fun?

I had several pen pals that I got from a 70s show called the Big Blue Marble. I had ones from France, Malaysia, Trinidad, Ghana, and Sweden. I love writing and using neat stationery. No one wants to do letter writing much these days. The stamps on my letters were awesome. Such fun.

Have you tried google.com and type in PEN PALS?

Speaking of pen pals, in 7th and 8th grade (1959 & 60) I had a pen pal who lived on an island in the Indian Ocean (Mauritius). Now, jump ahead to 1979 and I was stationed on the USS LaSalle AGF-3, Flag Ship for the Middle East Forces. I was having my interview with the C.O. and he mentioned one of our planned liberty ports was Mauritius. I told him I knew someone there. He didn't quite believe me. Her address was easy to remember, so when we pulled in, I caught a bus to her town. She wasn't home, but I went back when she came home from work. Out of the 8 days we were there, I spent 6 with her and her friends. One day I took her and her sister out to our ship and my C.O. met her. He was VERY surprised. We wrote again for almost 4 years, then she got married and I told her it might not be a good idea for us to write now that she had a husband. She was upset, but finally agreed. I do send her a birthday card each year.

I love writing letters. I always had pen pals in my younger years and looked forward to receiving letters.

I used lilac paper and envelopes with scalloped edges so people would always know when they had a letter from me!!!

all you get nowadays is bills in the mail.

Yes, but be careful what you wish for stormy. I had a penpal in the early 60's and we met in 62 and got married in '66 and last July was our 41'st . You never know how things are going to turn out.
I also had a penpal in Philadelphia in the mid '50's named Kay Kyser but we lost touch. I had another in Paris ,France named Josiane Drai and I wrote to her in my school French and she wrote to me in her school English .We wrote for a few years and also lost touch but I did enjoy it at the time. I think the internet is more interesting because there are many people on here from all over the world.

I had a pen-pal as a teenager.. It was organized by a magazine I think.. it was a lot of fun.. almost seems like too many creepy people now-a-days... people are willing to communicate online because you don't have to give your address or personal information... Not sure I'd want to send my name/address out there anymore with all the fraud and psychos!

There is also Yahoo groups. You can scan the groups for ones that have similar interests as you and join them. There are lots of people there that like to write and chat about their hobbies and/or their lives.

GOOD luck.
