how do you become a senator orsome other sort of politician or governor etc.?

what do you have to do in order to become something like governor or senator or congressman or something like that??

i know youmust be elected, but how do you head down that path??

You get elected, unless the sitting official leaves office for some reason. Then in the US, the governor of that state may be able to appoint a replacement. If the governor leaves office, the lieutenant governor steps up to the plate.
