I just read an article on CNN about cops being involved in ANOTHER sexual assault case.

Whats the deal? Have our police have no shame? Where are the legit cops at?

I met a state police officer once and he was really messed up-he could tell you a lie with a straight face and be dead serious about it.

There has to be good police that arent getting any credit but every police officer I have met has had some serious power issues or mental problems.

I would love to hear your opinions on this one.

I'm sure they exist although I do remember the story of this guy who was rejected because he was too intelligent...

The thing is, we don't hear about the good ones and probably don't get to meet them either because they're too busy doing real police work instead of harassing people.

My opinion is that a few bad apples are being trotted out to draw a crowd so the media can have a captive audience to sell stuff to the crowd. The same knee-jerk journalism happens when someone is murdered and the media never fail to mention that the accused is a "veteran", especially if he is a former Marine.
Good news doesn't draw a crowd. So, the 99+% of good police never get much attention in the media. Yet, in urban policing, their job is to sit on the lid of the trash can of anarchy and keep it from exploding in the citizens' faces. And all without a bit of thanks.

There used to be..but now it's about power and how many they can bust for any reason legitimately or not...there is a fad here..the sheriffs deputies just arrest you for hindering an investigation if you refuse to answer any questions.
2 yrs ago the sheriff was charged with giving away confiscated weapons to Friends and family...over 1000 of them they still cannot account for...he just got probation and a fine.
No not anymore being a cop is for losers and mental patients...it seems.

Of course there are good cops out there. Many, many thousands of them. But, like every profession, there are going to be bad ones, too.

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with a State Cop. But I know plenty of people that can lie pretty darn well.

Every group has bad apples. Whether that group be based on an occupation, a religion, a race, a gender, a nationality, a hair color, etc.
