Just wanted to chime in and agree with the last answer. As long as you can dig a suitable planting hole now is a fine time to plant a tree. And your choice is excellent too. I love Bald Cypress, wish more people planted them. Just be careful that as it grows no one mistakes it for a "dead pine tree" during the winter and cuts it down. Years ago we lost several BC's on campus because of a less than informed groundskeeper. He's no longer with us........

As long as you can dig the hole and have dirt that isn't all clumpy to backfill with then it should be fine. If it is 40- 80 degrees then the ground shouldn't be froze and you won't have any problems at all. Good luck.

Winter is the best time to plant trees as they are in their dormant state and will not get 'stressed'.
Make sure to add plenty of well rotten manure or some compost to the hole as you add the tree and water well.
Don't let it dry out but don't over water it and then in spring it should strat to bud.

Sounds like you're near me in Texas or the like. Winter is a great time to plant trees. They are dormant and will begin to put our roots so that when spring arrives they are ready to leaf out and begin growing. Go for it.

I'm in Ohio and we have bought a live balled & burlaped xmas tree for years. We plant it in early January. Never had a problem. We dig the hole in earyl Dec. Hard ground could be a problem in certain parts... Planting/transplanting a tree when its dormant is usually fine and often prefered. Btw, our state forestry sells trees and ships its trees in Dec and April -( bareroot trees).I think they have some info on their website - google: Ohio Division of Forestry tree sale. I planted dozens of BC 7 years ago and they are jamm'in. Good luck
Cheers

in most parts of the US, the best tree planting season is April and October. coincidentally, the nurseries offer great deals on trees at this time!
