This is a very normal thing to happen, all you need to do is zap the ram. This will not delete anything. On startup hold the keys: "command (apple button), option, p, r" all at the same time immediately after you press to power button. Hold these keys down until you hear the startup sound a couple of times, this may take a few seconds. This should solve your problem. For more information check this site (http://www.myoldmac.net/FAQ/ZAP-PRAM.htm)

-good luck

by the way, zapping the ram may be an old term, but it works very well. I have used it on the schools imacs, the new imac, ibooks, ibook g4s, and macbooks it fixes problems very quickly.

You don't "zap the ram" On ancient Macs zapping the PRAM used to fix some problems, but I haven't done that in years and I take care of Macs for a living.
Just take it back to the store. They always image those computers instead of installing OSX from scratch, and it frequently causes problems. If they can't fix it in two hours they should give you a new one.
