Yes, unless it's what the teacher was also discussing at the time. You're there for just under an hour a day. That means your teacher has only that much time to give to you, respect him/her by giving them your attention. After all, isn't that why you're there in the first place?

No i take mine to class and take notes on it all the time. But my proffs keep a close eye on all of the students so its not like i could put in a movie and watch it.
