I agree with you 100%. Feminists want to have their cake and eat it too. Its up to us men to STOP this crap.
Either be a housewife OR do EVERYTHING and I DO mean everything... a man does. Thats all there is to it.
I don't like this half-way feminism were they want equal pay, but at the same time expect special treatment in other areas. Its bulls***

Gender equality shouldn't be about both sexes/genders (and people in between- there are so many more than Western society realizes) being able to perform all the same duties. Men and women can be equal without being the same, and that is why there are still such restrictions. Sadly, it is not as fair as our society wants (not just in the military or workplace), and traditional gender roles are still expected to be followed in Western society. Feminists often fight against themselves even, and I don't understand where the logic went in this argument. Why is it a bad thing that men and women have different types of intelligence and skills? How and who judges what is better and more valued in society? I think we need to be challenging the media a lot more, demanding equal pay for equal work, and make society understand how both sexes are important in different ways; and not all men or all women fit into specifically defined roles. But, it is going too far to expect equal numbers of men and women in specific work roles- most people see the reasoning behind separating men and women in sports...

Women HAVE lobbied to be drafted. You should do some research before you ask questions.
But you are putting the cart before the horse. In the event the draft is reinstated, it will be for front line positions...that is WHY a draft is needed, more people to fight on the front lines. The draft gets "cannon fodder" on the front lines, in the shortest amount of time possible, i.e. MINIMAL training. Support roles generally require a lot more training, and aren't as needed in a draft situation.
When women who are ALREADY in the military are allowed to fight on the front lines (something feminists ARE fighting for) then the draft will follow.
You're trying to use the fact that women are actually DISCRIMINATED against in the military, against them. Again, when women are allowed to fight on the front lines, then we will be drafted, as well.

they're not lobbying to be drafted because the military doesn't draft.
by the way, women have been serving as fighter pilots since 1994, when many military roles were opened to women. the only ones that are not opened are infantry, scouts, and specialty roles such as seals, rangers, etc. Many women serve as military police, which is definately a combat role, if not by definition than by action on the battlefield. as a woman who served two tours in iraq, i was on the battlefield quite often: there is no front line and my job required i travel with infantry, scouts, and MPs regularly. for now, women's roles in the military are still limited, but that's a good thing. eventually, more roles will open up, but it's a touchy situation. sexual tension really does distract.

zen understands this perfectly, a very good insightful answer.
I was born in 1950, they cut of part of my penis when I was a young boy, by the time I graduated from high school Viet Nam was in full conflict. Then some females started protesting for equal rights. Sounds like a good idea to me!
I realize that since the draft was suspended even some of your fathers did not have to face the draft, but it is still a possibility - but only for males.

I wonder what Bush would do IF there was a draft that included woman. Since he's gung ho war, would either of his two precious daughters be drafted? Nope. You men are being oppressed in the fact that there could be a draft someday. And no matter what is going on in your lives, you may have to stop whatever you're doing and go off to some frickin' war. I wonder how feminists would like THAT hangin' over their heads!

Who was is said "The Draft is Daft"? Oh, that's right , it was me.
If people wish to serve their country in the military, so be it. Who really wants to be under fire with a person who was forced to be there? Let those women who truely believe in their cause, and their right to defend their country ENLIST, rather than wait for their number to come up.

I'm backing you 100%, OP. Women's lives are no more valuable nor precious than a man's, and if men are allowed to die on the front lines in battle, women should be allowed to do the same.
I might also remind you that women in the military are not necessarily against practices such as these; it's the MALE SUPERIOR OFFICERS that are hesitant to put them in such a position, because they're so conservative that they feel women can't handle their own out there.
Furthermore, I've heard the "women aren't as liable to perform properly at the front lines" argument, and find it laughable. We're not talking about chain mail and 200 lb. steel armor, here. This is the 21st century. She has to carry her provisions in a pack, her ammunition, and a gun. All of that combined can't weigh more than 150 lbs. It's definitely manageable for a female soldier to get her sh*t together and hide in a fox hole just as it would be for any male soldier.
Lastly, women ARE dying in the war. So the stipulations that women "aren't allowed on the field" is really just a bunch of pomp and circumstance. Plenty of women have lost their lives, particularly in this war, by car bombs, or for attempting to detonate bombs or clear land mines... These are thought of as "safer jobs", but obviously they're not without their own risks. It's an official stance of the U.S. government that women aren't to be allowed in front of active gunfire, but in practice, it's not holding much water. Guerillas can pop out of nowhere and start a conflict any time they wish, and I promise that they don't check to see if there are ladies amongst the soldiers before they open fire. So don't worry, son. We're dying just as your kind are. It sounds terrible, but I believe that that's exactly as it should be. If you're a soldier, you have to expect that outcome. There should be no special treatment for your genitalia.
Now, that being said, this war is, has, and always will be a STUPID IDEA, and I don't like the idea of men or women dying on the sands of Iraq for shady reasons. And ever since Vietnam, we've never had any particularly good reason to go to war; just ridiculous paranoia about some sort of looming threat that never gels. I'm not going to be fighting for ANYBODY'S "right to fight" if it's for stupid and unclear reasons like these.

We're too busy fighting against the draft itself. If it becomes inevitable, all feminists here have agreed that women should be involved.

Why aren't you marching in Washington and supporting a draft? Who wants to be drafted? My guess is not many. I seriously doubt that men or women want to be drafted.
