I am an Independant Set-Aside contractor for the Navy. 24dec has been declared a Legal Holiday by the Pres. At our command, only 13 folks have been told that we have to use our personal leave for that day bcuz all Fed. Bldgs. are closed. Can they force us to use our leave when it has been declared a Fed. Holiday and they are not providing us with a place to work?

You are not an employee of the Government...it is up to your employer to give you the time off or take your leave...the President only gave Government Employees off...our Contractors can not stay at luncheons longer than their lunch period unless their employer allows it...

If they are not allowing you to work, they cannot charge you leave. But it rests with your employer, not the Navy.
