I would love it. Flowers are cliche. Fly traps are interesting. Plus the name Venus fly trap would suggest that they are seductive like the Roman goddess Venus. Therefore, he's likely saying that the receiver is dangerously seductive. Pretty sexy!

I'd think it was fun, personally. I can never keep those plants alive for long, it seems, but they're a ton of fun. I might question their judgment a little if they did it during a chilly season, though.

I suppose that it depends upon his intentions.
If he's a well-educated person with a curiosity about nature, I'd think that he was providing me with an unusual and interesting gift.
If he was a klutz, I'd think that he was perhaps insulting me.
