On the contrary...i think rappers are disgusting, show-offs, with no talent and whom either are, or act uneducated. They don't actually sing, they just repeat the same phrases over & over again, and they most likely don't play any instuments.....They couldn't carry a tune on their own....
At least the rock stars play and instrument, write a lot of their own music, belong to a band, and aren't what's trendy at the time...they have been know to far better stand the test of time...like Metallica, say...despite the drugs and groupies, I'd rather be a rock star than a rapper. And the comment about rock starts and all the "drugs & groupies"...well, there are just as much of that going on with the rappers, including jail time and killing eachother...bringing the "hood" right along with them to the public eye...wonderful.
I don't think rappers are more "luxurious" in any fashion! I wouldn't even use that word in the same sentence when speaking about rappers...although, rock stars don't sound luxurious either. ..."Luxurious" would describe Celine Dion, or Gwen Stefani, or Nelly Furtado...they are talented, making good fun music, with class.

it is actually only image.
a lot of houses on MTV Cribs were bought or rented by the record label and are in no way owned by the artist.
right now, newly signed rappers have less than a 20% chance to have a second hit.
This year alone i can think of a hundred one hit wonder Rappers.
so if you notice, watch a brand new Hip hop artist first music video. They will showcase how much they have ( money, cars bling, and women) None of this is theres.
And if the have a second hit, the music video for it is alot more humble.
Musicians make a lot less than a dollar per album sold. So unless they can past the test of time, they are all usually broke after the fad ends.

I think it's a matter of opinion as to whom is more "luxurious" as you put it. I think rappers make their lives and penchants for expensive things more public than most rock stars do so it might appear that rappers are moreso.
I've known a few rock stars and although they have fabulous houses and nice cars, it's not part of who they are like it is with rappers.
Also, rock stars aren't as much into the same thing as most rappers seem to be, ie "bling", big SUVs, etc. With rappers it's part of the expected image.

Well more people now listen to rap instead of rock i guess, so the rappers get more money, its just an era, maybe in 10 years, every one will love rap..
Like pump shoes went out in the 90s and are now back, and thigh highs were 'out' for a while, i guess like that xx

In my personal opinion is because Rappers usually come from extreme poverty. While rock stars seem to come from a more middle class environment. I have watched several interviews of rappers like 50 cent and kayne West and all they talk about is about the extreme poverty that they came from. And Tommy Lee for example was involved in high school band, and so was Travis Barker, and Dave Navarro. In order for one to belong to a High School band one must attend a high school and have enough money to maintain the demands of an extracurricular activity. WHile most rappers learn to rap in the streets. And that is how they come up with all of that amaizing music through their "street experience"
So when one has suffered every kind of lack. Money, food, clothing, one tends to overspend. Its like a viscious circle in which no matter how much you NOW have, you are never satisfied.

Rappers seem to want everyone to know that "they've arrived" Rock stars only seem to care about groupies and drugs- not other people's opinions/thoughts/feelings (NOT saying that rappers DON'T care about groupies and drugs, cause they do (of course))

Coming from the 'ghetto' you dream of the the things you never had. Although as a mainstream rapper you tend to be a puppet for 'white' executives as a poster boy for 'white' youth. True Hip-Hop is in the underground... KRS forever, Big L R.I.P.
