Short a - MAH-see, not MAY-see.
Rhymes with Lassie and Cassie, not Lacey and Casey.

Phonetically it should be pronounced Mass- ee, and Cassie is the same-- Cass- ee. But often times names are not pronounced they way they are written.
I think that Masie is nicer because that would be pronounced May-cee.
Either way though it's not my fave.

I know a guy with that name. He pronounces it Moss-y or Maw-see... however you'd like to phonetically spell it out
EDIT - we do live in the South... so It's a little drawled out because of that. So if you're a Northern its probably more of MAH- See... as in map,

Maybe it is Mass-ee.
I think rangel is right, Cassie would be pronounced Cass-ee, as far as I know.
