It's a basic cookie dough recipe.
2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
tsp salt
What else can I add (or possibly subtract!) to make them slightly softer? Everyone says they are delicious but I would like them a bit softer!!

Cut back on your flour by a few tablespoons...
Possibly lower you oven temp by 25 degrees....and cut your bake time down a few minutes....
Just some ideas....If you email me the whole thing I will see if there might be another suggestion.....
Peace.

Try using only 2 1/2 cups of flour, and use brown sugar instead of white. Also add 2 tbls of honey, and if you haven't already, bake them at 325 just until the edges are lightly browned.

I hope this is a serious Q, or else I'm going to feel like a dork...

Hello, Harley Mama. The butter you are using is going to make the baked cookie harder, because at room temperature, butter is naturally firmer. If you use an oil recipe instead, you will get a softer cookie. I can send you an oil recipe if you want to try it. Good luck!

I know this is going to sound crazy, but in cookies or bisquits, add a tablespoon of Miracle whip to make them softer or keep them fresh longer.
