I have always had music in my kids rooms for them falling asleep, much better than the tv I think. they find it relaxing, even my 6 year old still has to have music on.

When she first came home from the hospital, it seemed the only thing to get my baby to sleep was David Bowie's Space Oddity. Go figure.
But for all of my children, I developed the habit of leaving their door open when I put them down, and I would run the vacuum cleaner out in the living room. I had read that if you keep it too quiet it can greatly effect their sleeping habits once they get older. But, if they are used to having a little noise, they are less likely to suffer from insomnia later on. The vacuum seemed to prove effective.

I am going to tell you what I do it works really well to put them to sleep. I play drum and bass techno. Not really loud just like moderate noise, and they love it, it has always put my babies to sleep. white noise has nothing on a bass line. I know it sounds silly but my husband likes techno and we noticed it put our daughter to sleep when we play it. So we used it for out 2nd and now our 3rd, it really works.

yes, she has an special thing (bought in Spain) that projects objects moving while it plays music for 15 mins. You can chose from the typical mobile song, water falls, and other 2 nature sounds.
I think it helps her relax, that's all.

There are Cd's made especially for that but anything soft and slow would probably help.

I hold my baby on my lap in front of the tv while he falls asleep. Now he can't get to sleep without the tv.
